Data gone after update to new version

I updated self hosted sentry to version Sentry 20.12.1.
The postgres is external in aws - so all user data is still available.
But all the error / traces data is gone.
Will this be stored in the redis container ? How can I avoid that I lose this data next time when I do an update ?
