We are trying to design to upgrade it any without downtime. We have it running on an EC2 instance. I realize an in place upgrade may not be possible without downtime. How can we architect this?
Sentry on-premise doesn’t support a way to update without downtime. If downtime from upgrading is a big concern for you, I recommend switching to SaaS.
There is an undocumented and very experimental --minimize-downtime flag in the install.sh script but it hasn’t worked without problems. You may wanna see how it is built and try to improve it or build a solution around that.
That said if you don’t want any downtime, I’d echo what @scefali already said: switch to sentry.io so our experienced operations people can take care of that for you
